Over the past handful of years, Subaru has seen great gains. Not only is the brand producing arguably its best products ever, the company continues to do well from a sales perspective.

Essentially, it's gone from a super low volume producer to a manufacturer that's a player especially where consumers are hungry for all-wheel drive. In an economy that's rattled many businesses, we say kudos to Subaru!

This success means the company can take on an expenditure like an all-new headquarters for its American operations. This has led the Japanese automaker to start the process of leaving its Cherry Hill location that it's occupied since 1986 for Camden.

While Camden may not be known for much aside from it's sky-high murder rate, it sounds like a good deal for Subaru as a company as it would double its space and bring all of its operations inside one campus — right now it operates several different properties in south New Jersey. Obviously, it's not efficient.

Subaru is one of a multitude of automakers who call New Jersey its home for its American/North American operations. Others include: BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.

SUBARU OF AMERICA CONFIRMS APPLICATION FOR NEW HQ LOCATION IN CAMDEN, N.J.

Cherry Hill, N.J. - Subaru of America, Inc. has confirmed that it has identified the preferred location of its new corporate headquarters as an all-new development in Camden, N.J. The new site is approximately four miles from the company's current location in Cherry Hill, N.J.

The confirmation comes as Subaru celebrates six successive annual sales records and the new building is planned to bring on to one campus various functions of the company including Sales, Marketing, Service and Administration that are presently housed across three separate sites in southern New Jersey.

The new site is adjacent to the Campbell Gateway District and is currently owned by Campbell Soup Company. Subaru of America will house more than 500 employees and contractors in the new facility that at 250,000 square feet will be double the size of the current HQ building.

Subaru of America's application is now subject to New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) approval, followed by negotiations with the developer Brandywine Realty Trust and then a concluding internal cost approval process. Final decision is expected by April 2015 and subject to this approval, Subaru plans to complete the project by fourth quarter, 2016 or early 2017.

Subaru of America has had its corporate headquarters in N.J since 1969 and has been in its current location in Cherry Hill since 1986. The company also has local offices in Pennsauken N.J.

Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer of Subaru of America said: "We are very excited to be moving this project forward as we seek to bring all of our corporate employees together on one site, in a first class facility. This move cements the long-term future of Subaru in the Delaware Valley and we are pleased that after more than 45 years here, we can plan to continue to be a part of the local community we have supported for so long."
