In a recent comparison on KBB, the Porsche Cayman S won a Top 10 cars for a road trip award.
"The 2009 Cayman S could just be the ultimate machine in which to discover America while flying solo. With room for two and over 9.2 cubic feet of luggage space, you have more than enough room for both the necessities and the niceties for any road trip.
And, the Cayman S with its 3.4-liter 320 horsepower Direct Fuel Injected (DFI) Vario-Cam Plus equipped engine, will take you from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 172 mph. The Cayman S’s performance requires no sacrifice in efficiency; it will take you from Chicago, down along Route 66, the “Mother Road,” to the Santa Monica Pier, all 2278 miles of it, on approximately 78.5 gallons of fuel, an average of 29 highway mpg, when equipped with Porsche’s revolutionary PDK transmission."
Gotta love the performance/mileage mix on the Cayman S and ANY Porsche.
It's one of the most underrated features that a Porsche delivers and certainly deserving of an award like this.
