Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, announced its U.S. sales for the month of July totaling 3,128 compared to last year's record-breaking July total of 3,230, a decrease of 3%. This comes despite a very challenging sales environment in the U.S. For the seven months of 2008, Porsche sales are now 18,214 versus 21,089.

For July, Porsche's new generation Cayenne continued its strong 2008 performance with sales of 958 and year-to-date results of 7,446 are tracking 17% ahead of last year's total. Porsche's renowned mid-engine models, the Boxster and Cayman, enjoyed a July increase with sales of 1,095 versus 2007's 1,051, led by the Boxster with a 32% increase from the previous year.

"Amid a very tough car market this year, it is important to not only have the right products that hit the mark with our customers, but it is critical to have a dealer body that is devoted and passionate about the brand to help navigate these challenging times," said Detlev von Platen, PCNA President and CEO. "Together, the strength and loyalty of our U.S. dealer body has not only helped the brand this month but has allowed us to achieve respectable results for the fiscal year."

July 31 marked the end of Porsche's fiscal year 07/08. Porsche Cars North America closed the fiscal year with total U.S. sales of 31,818 new cars.

In addition, dealers sold 627 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned cars in July vs. 513 for the same period last year.
