It looks like the BMW Ms, Mercedes-AMGs and Audi RS' of the world are going to have to keep looking behind their back. That's because there's a new player in town.

That would be the Jaguar F-Pace and XE. In standard trim they're making waves, but the real news is in the latest info we're hearing.

According to reports, JLR's Special Vehicle Operations division is proposing the opportunity to make use of the company's supercharged V8 motor in the F-Pace and XE. Some may ask "Why," we ask "Why not?"

One thing is certain, buyers are lining up for the likes of super fast sport-utility vehicles as well as souped up sedans. Go and ask any salesperson how long it takes for an M, an AMG or an RS to sell out.

Buyers can't get enough of them.

So, if SVO can make a business case for producing a limited batch of F-Paces and XEs we don't see why the company wouldn't take the plunge and attempt to shock, well, everyone.
