Likely the most popular Lamborghini of all time, the Gallardo, is finally due to get a replacement. Dubbed the Cabrera, according to rumors, it sounds like Lambo has quite a bit in store for the next-gen product.

Though, from the sounds of things, it appears that Audi may have held it back just a bit.

That's because, once again, components will be shared between the Cabrera and next-gen R8 that's set to bow come 2015. In one cited example, Lamborghini wanted to build the Cabrera with a carbon fiber monocoque but was "forced to follow a more conservative route dictated by parent company Audi..." That doesn't sound too good, particularly when folks questioned whether or not Lambo would suffer from being under Volkswagen Auto Group's wing.

Aside from that though it appears that the all-new vehicle will deliver on the other fronts. Power will come from an updated V10 good for 600 horsepower, the car is expected to maintain the weight of todays all-wheel drive Gallardo and it will grow ever so slightly to accommodate passengers a bit better. Being 6'8, I welcome that change.

And for you old-school gearheads word on the street suggests that Lambo will fit the vehicle with a six-speed manual and a dual-clutch gearbox borrowed from Audi.
