The all-new Audi R8 is a vehicle that's been highly anticipated. And considering the performance of its not so distant relative, the Lamborghini Huracan, expectations are running high.

While there's been plenty of exposure to the V10 and V10 Plus model in the past week, we're a bit intrigued as to whether a smaller motor will be employed. According to people on the scene that spoke to higher ups at Audi, it is possible we will see a V6 motor in the next-gen R8.

TopGear.com snagged this little tidbit:

So a naturally aspirated V8 will appear, but what about a V6? "As low as a V6? Maybe," Roland hints. "The V6 is a perfect engine for this kind of car. We have a lot of potential with the V6, from 400bhp upwards, so it's possible."

In addition, being that the first-gen gated shifter was adored by many, there's still a bit of mystery surrounding whether or not we'll get an encore. From the sounds of it I wouldn't be holding my breath, boys and girls.

Probably the most interesting news from the launch is the possibility of an increasing amount of variants. Examples include: Superleggera, GT, Clubsport.

All this said, what are YOU looking for in the next-gen Audi R8? What do YOU think would make it the most ideal sports car in its respective class?
