Rumor: BMW X4 ?
Here is one of the latest rumors that came down the pipe. BMW apparently is looking into building a Sports Activity Sedan (SAS) and the name chosen could be X4. From what we have heard, of course unofficially and not confirmed as of now, the X4 will be similar in shape to the X6, which was labeled as a Sports Activity Coupe.

At this point, I really doubt that a final decision is even remotely close, but….we have seen many rumors before becoming reality, so we shall see.

The guys at Auto Zeitung went even further and came up with a photoshop of what the BMW X4 might look like. To me, it seems somehow as being a combination between the X3 and X6.

I'm wondering what direction is BMW going with all these new name conventions and designs. Could this new X4 be somewhere in the same class as the Audi's A4 Avant Allroad?

Holy crap, I mentioned this exact idea a couple weeks back. Is Chris Bangle fishing around here for ideas?

Sports Activity Sedan indeed. LOL.

I don't think BMW will be capturing any new market with this car.

BMW is not trying to capture new market. i am pretty sure their goal is to keep future market when CAFE come in to play. if you cannot make a car that go 35 mpg, then make it a truck.

not a bad idea, a few little modifications and you are allowed to get much worse fuel economy

Oh please,,,Italin cars are overpriced and overated and watch out when you need an inspection or a part. Those cars are good to drive several times a year and then back in the garage and you can stand there and watch it for the rest of the year...

Don't fool yourself, piece of turd with a BMW badge is still a piece of turd... although It seems many BMW owners can't piece that together :)

If this is what BMW call innovation then badge fools can pay through the nose for the same stuff over and over again.. and they still wouldn't realise it..

So if the back seat in the X6 is only good for 5'10" people, this one will be limited to 5'4" passengers?

I think the "sport activity" will be limited to jockeys in equestrian events. Or contortionists.

Too many choices. I'm sure this is a response to the ex35. I'm sure it will sell but BMW will be losing its exclusiveness by adding too many models. How exclusive would Jaguar be if they tried to make a car to compete in every segment. What if Land Rover started making supercars and cars for every segment. It would no longer be exclusive. 1,3,5,6,7 a roadster and 2 SUV's are enough, Maybe the X6 as a specialty model, kinda like the Z8 and 850csi was. Maybe a ultra high performance car.

And thats still alot. With Tata owning Land Rover I can now truthfully say that my discovery really is a Tata mobile! :-) I know the jokes are old but I had to say it.

Amazingbimmer,
I believe it is BMW customers who need better jobs (or richer parents). Did you not hear, BMW customers are defaulting on their leases. LEASES!!! They can't even afford $369 a month.

Imagine if BMW decided to stop lowering their prices, they'd be royally screwed then.

I like it and believe they will not only make it and sell it here, but they will probably be a hit too... Who doesn't want more space like a SAV offers but with no sacrifice in handling prowess?...

Wow... BMW is getting a little crazy with their creating new segments philosophy. This definitely getting out of hand if this thing actually comes to market. The only way I see this happening is if they completely cut the 3er wagon and the 5er wagon in place of something like this.
