We see the advertising where the luxury car owner enjoy the day yachting across the bay, then runs from the deck of the boat to the car off to an art auction. This advertising alone paints a pretty picture, but the picture they paint is pretty far from the truth for most of us.
How often do you go from a fashion show, to a wine tasting and then on to an artist exhibition all in one day in your Lexus? Or how about carving through the back hills on a remote South Carolina trail at breakneck speeds to arrive just in time at an equestrian event in your BMW?
To me it is more like run off to the grocery store, then to a kid’s soccer game, then grab a car load of boys to run to a Scout show. Now while my daily activities may be far more typical, do we want to see that? Not really, it is far easier and many times more appealing to buy into the branding message when we choose our car.
Does that BMW really portray me as a sporty person? Does that Lexus shout to everyone that I have class? Does my Audi make my butt look big attract smiling glances from those that know what true quality is?
Now no matter what we think, we are influenced by the message that our car defines us to others. Whether is be bold and brash, or subtle and sleek, it is a reflection of our character, taste and sometime social status.
So knowing that, what type car do you drive and what does it say about you?
