Now that the BMW i3 has been giving its first lifecycle impulse (LCI), it's time for the big daddy to get some love. That would be the i8.

While the i8 coupe has not been spotted out and about, the i8 Spyder has been nabbed while undergoing developmental testing. This, of course, gives us some clues about what's to come.

Of greater importance, however, is the i8 Spyder's top and how it is integrated into vehicle's bodywork. If you've been wondering how the blue and white would execute this look, no need to search any further.

The latest spy shots certainly provide more than enough color to help anyone determine how it will look. Much like other high-end exotica, the i8 will utilize buttresses. That way it will keep similar lines to the coupe and will be able to hide some of the power top's mechanicals.

At this stage it's a bit difficult to determine exactly how the roof will be stowed away, but I'd like to wager it will follow the execution of Ferrari, where the top simply flips back. Note: It appears to be one piece, so, I am doubtful it will fold up and then be stowed.
