It seems like everyone is pursuing track-inspired drop tops these days. What's next? Will Porsche make a 911 GT3 Cabriolet?

Following on the heels of the very desired Ferrari 16M Scuderia, the prancing horse is working on developing a pulse quickening 458 Speciale Spider. Though we don't think expect Ferrari to double down on the name, we're sure that this car will literally be just that.

That means a more stripped-down interior, more power and track performance that will make your hair stand right up. Of course you'll get to experience this top down, which means you'll hear that screaming V8 for days.

The last report we heard is that the Italian marque showed off the car to a VIP crowd attending Monterey's Car Week this month. Word on the street suggests that only 458 units will be produced.

Check out the latest spy shots straight from Maranello where a spy snapped three pictures of the car as it conducts testing near Ferrari's global headquarters.
