Kia used to be one of those brands that you thought would be a nice company if it could get its act together. Quality was poor at best and its vehicles lacked that special something that would make any consumer lust for it. Sure, people bought them but there's no way any buyer would tell me it was because it was a great product. They were value shoppers.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Kias have a lower barrier of entry and a great warranty.

Here's the thing, though. The brand has changed and now is producing better quality vehicles and putting out designs that make you look twice or three times. There's a bit of flavor in their vehicles now and it's wonderful.

One of the autos that helped shepherd this paradigm shift was the Sportage. In a previous life it looked goofy, at best. This generation product was a move in a different direction though as it boasted a design that looked slick and even featured LEDs in the front headlights.

It had a bit of a Volkswagen Auto Group look to it, and there's good reason for that. Kia did offer employment to one of VWAG's top guys.

Now it's time for the Sportage to get a bit of an updating. It's been around for a couple years and just needs updates to keep it competitive with the competition.
