Back in 2009, General Motors' Opel wound up winning a pretty prestigious award.
Winning the European Car of the Year, the Insignia walked away with some primo honors.
While that must have been rewarding, I think the second that happened someone at GM was thinking of a way to architect a Buick revitalization. And, let's be real, it needed it.
Products were stale at Buick and no one was going to be bestowing awards its way anytime soon. So, GM took the Insignia and brought its blueprints overseas to the domestic market. From there, the Buick Regal was reborn.
In a much more well thought-out fashion than Buicks of yore, mind you.
And now we're seeing that the Opel Insignia is getting some updates in form of a refresh, we're curious to see what is in store for its sibling, the Regal.
These spy pictures seem to keep things relatively straightforward: modifications will happen to the facade and hind quarters, while the interior is to remain relatively unchanged.
