The BMW X3 is one of those vehicles that seems to receive a lot of hate from all angles, but it still sells plenty of units. What are you going to do? I guess it's one of the Bavarian's necessary evils.

To be straightforward, the first-generation X3 was merely an acceptable product. Was it one of the best and most pure BMWs created? No, not even close. What it did prove though is that BMW could produce a "meh" vehicle and still move units out of dealers provided the price is right and the market was rich with in-market consumers.

The second-gen X3 made significant strides in becoming a proper BMW vehicle. Its ride was actually comfortable without sacrificing its sporting intentions, and the interior materials weren't made of some shabby styrofoam-like material. And, boy, did it look better.

We can only assume that third attempt will be a charm. Likely to boast a conservative design that goes through a touch of evolution from the second-gen X3, we assume it will inherit the "3D" kidney grilles found on other BMW products. From a size perspective, it looks pretty much in lock step with the second-gen X3 it's pictured next to in these spy shots, so I wouldn't expect much more room when it comes to the interior and storage area.

Aside from that, it is covered up head-to-toe in camouflage. We'll have to wait a bit longer to see this puppy emerge from its shell a bit more...
