It's not every day that you see a research and development car undergoing testing. It's not every day you see an R&D car broken down, either.
Some very good Spies happened to be at the right place at the right time. That's because they caught the next-gen Mercedes-AMG E63 in a compromising situation.
Stopped in the middle of the road, hood up is the latest AMG to come from Germany. The testers are sporting high visibility jackets, which means they're following "health and safety" as our friends across the pond would say.
Much like the other snaps of the all-new E63, the vehicle doesn't appear too dissimilar from the likes of the E43; however, it does have the quad-tipped exhaust and modified front valence to accommodate large air intakes to keep the forced induction motor as cool as possible. In addition, the Spies noted that while the large TFT displays inside the E63 were carried over from the standard E-Class, it was noted that the software was AMG-specific.

...Our photographers also snapped a picture of the car's dash, which uses the same digital display as the regular E-Class but with a speedo that reads up to 330kmh. No doubt the car's top speed will fall short of this number (which equates to 205mph), but it confirms some of the menus and infotainment pages will be bespoke to the AMG.
What caused this particular mule's break down has not been revealed, but the development drivers were able to re-start it after following instructions on the phone, suggesting it was a minor electrical or software issue...
