In recent months we've been seeing a lot of an all-new Bentley Continental making its way around the world famous Nürburgring. To be straightforward, we don't know what to make of it just yet.
So far I've been putting my chips on a vehicle that pays homage to the all-new Continental GT3. Although many folks think of Bentley as a luxury marque, the reality is that it loves its sporting heritage. So when an all-new Bentley racer hits the track, you better believe that there will be some special edition B cars to celebrate.
Though nomenclature is up in the air at the moment, word on the street suggests it **could** be an all-new Supersports. Personally, I am not subscribing to that belief as this car clearly is equipped with a V8 powerplant.
An interesting note provided by the folks who shot this video: Apparently the test car's spoiler was not attached before hitting the track. Could it be a decoy or simply a removable carbon fiber piece that provides extra downforce for track duty?
Hopefully we'll see soon enough.
We spied another mysterious Bentley Continental GT V8 on the Nürburgring, which could be a more potent and hardcore version of the GT V8 S. A similar prototype had been spotted in white on the Nordschleife in April, and Bentley has now continued testing with a red prototype. Remarkable detail: the car drove up towards the secret Nordschleife Industrypool entrance without the spoiler on the boot, but once on the track it suddenly had the spoiler on. Seems to be a dismountable spoiler for now. Only time will tell what this turns out to be. All we know for now is that the V8 engine in this Continental GT makes an incredibly loud noise! Listen to that glorious exhaust note! Footage was shot on Tuesday the 20th of May.
