I have to say, the Ferrari 458 Italia is a brilliant machine. It's arguably one of the best looking F cars in years and its V8 good for about 560 horsepower provides a helluva experience. But now with the all-new 488 GTB on the way, it seems pretty "old hat."

In other words, it's going to be left in the dust.

This is what happens when you unleash a forced induction motor that will churn out over 650 horsepower into the wild. But, with all things turbocharged, there's one major concern: how will it sound? Typically, turbos muffle or make an exhaust note sound muted.

When it comes to Ferrari, one of the greatest elements of the marque's cars is the noise. Until now we've only heard studio audio that can be, frankly, deceiving. Thanks to a spy at the Ferrari test track, Fiorano, we're now hearing it properly for the first time.

Dial up the volume and let us know what you think: does the 488 GTB's sound get two thumbs UP or DOWN?

**Yes, we know it's a mule sporting some 458 body panels...

I've filmed a mule of the Ferrari 488 GTB testing around Fiorano circuit. As you can see, this is a testing mule based on the 458 Italia but with the mechanical components of the 488 GTB such as the exhaust, transmission and the new 3.9 litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
