Man, BMW is really dragging this one out.

For what feels like eons now, the Bavarians have been doing developmental testing on the much-anticipated BMW M2. As a follow up to the 2011 BMW 1M — in my opinion, arguably, the best BMW made in years — there are a lot of Bimmerphiles awaiting this launch.

While most have a pretty good idea of how it will look, we're all wondering how good it will drive and what it will be powered by. Right now a lot of money is on the engine being featured in the all-new X4 M40i. That means a 3.0-liter six-cylinder mill good for 355 horsepower and 343 lb.-ft. of torque. If you ask me, I think it'll have a bit more guts than that, give or take 375 horsepower and a 355 lb.-ft. of torque. Just an educated guess.

This latest image shows us the M2 dressed in white with minimal camouflage. The staggered, quad-tipped exhaust is on full display as are the M-specific mirrors.

We're sure there's some design details under the camouflage but considering how long we've already been kept waiting, we're confident we can hold out a bit longer.
