Jaguar is in the middle of a renaissance. The once legendary British luxury automaker has been hobbled in recent years. That's because, frankly, its vehicles were not all that compelling.
In a highly evolving luxury space, the company just rolled out its very first sport-utility vehicle called the F-Pace. In my neighborhood I've already seen a handful, which is good news for the leaping cat. While we've spied an F-Pace SVR under development, there's something a bit more intriguing for the masses.
That would be the rumored J-Pace. For those of you not in the loop, this would be a compact SUV follow up to the mid-size F-Pace.
While we tend to see mid-size SUVs selling in high volume, vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class are doing well — from a sales perspective — in the luxury market. From where we sit it's clear that demand doesn't appear to be slowing down for SUVs.
Enter the J-Pace.
As Land Rover has firm control over the large SUV market with its super hip and utilitarian models, it appears Jaguar is going to try to own the road-going market with its sleeker designs and sportier driving dynamics.
