SPY PHOTOS: New Toyota Caught In Testing-Will Lexus Get Their Own Version Of It?
Our ace spy photographer Fred Khaz was at it again today when he snapped these photos of the upcoming this new Toyota Crossover.

Crossover's are taking over more and more for SUV's, as gas prices have risen to insane levels.

It's the Venza that was introduced at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

We want to know if you think they should make a Lexus version of this?

RX doesn't have 3 rows of seats and isn't built off the Camry...

the RX is based off the previous gen camry. we're still not sure if the 3gen RX will continue to be based off the camry platform or if it will be unique for lexus

it probably will be based off the camry. its the most cost efficient method of production.

There are no plans to have a Lexus interpretation of the Venza.

Amazing how many SUV-type vehicles Toyota produces. Who buys all these things? Highlander, Outlander, Freelander, 4Runner, Sienna, RAV4, CRV.... oh, I'm probably mixing in a few models/types of other manufacturers. But that's the point. They're all the same: big boxes on wheels. Dull.

You conveniently forgot to mention that Toyota and Lexus SUVs are some of the greenest and most fuel efficient ones out there.

@ MichaelTaylor,

Does your Daddy tell you to use only "talking points" as opposed to actually facts and knowledgeable information?

As for the Venza, that Camry nose has got to go.

they reveale this last year at an autoshow. nothing special. this will apparently sit under the highlander since it is available in a 4 cyl. model that might be good for these high fuel prices. the highlander is onl available in a v6

Can't be any worse the current RX. Can it? They need to toughen up it's looks a bit. Doesn't look like they did from those spyshots we've seen. In fact, doesn't look any different except maybe a few more inches in length

im hoping that last weeks spy shots were of the venza and not of the lexus. they look way too similar. even the trunk lid area bears high resemblance.

in the past, the RX was much nicer looking than the highlander.

well the only reason i'd see that show up as a lexus was if they did do away with one of their SUVs. Maybe not RX , because though they look similar the 3rd row is a difference maker...maybe the LX though?

OK some facts: The Venza uses the Avalon Chassis and will be built at the Kentucky plant and replaces the Solara on the assembly line. As for a Lexus version, doubtful. This is more like a cross between a wagon and a camry styled vehicle than a crossover, but the elevated ride height I guess makes it a crossover. This to me is more along lines of the Ford Flex than a Ford Edge. I hear it is positioned between the RAV4 and Highlander. Toyota does have a lot of these style vehicles available and most look bland as usual. Scary part in the show car trim was Toyota's usual style copying and their version of Ford's 3 Bar Grill is horrid. I am sure this will sell though since the American public is so brainwashed by Toyota.

Just because they sell does not mean that they are still not boring.

What's wrong with these people? Nothing. They could care less about cars. All they want is a car that can get them from point-A-to-point-B. Just don't confuse that with exciting vehicles. Which is something that Toyota forgot how to make.

LemonadeLemonade - 6/30/2008 3:45:55 PM

LexSucks,

Don't come up on here and tell me some stupid shit like "people could care less about cars" especially the ones they drive. I don't know what planet you're from but if I'm spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle, I better care about it. The fact that you've devoted your entire existence on Autospies to bashing the Lexus/Toyota brands discredits anything you post, especially on a Lexus subject. And in case you didn't notice, I was being sarcastic with damikco's post. Now, just because a car can go 0-60 in 2 seconds and pumps out 900 hp and stiff suspension, decorated with some leather and loaded with fancy electronic gadgets (which causes electrical problems).. doesn't make it the most beautiful car on the market. I like a car that suits my needs with a style that (I) am comfortable with. I'm sure I speak for every individual on this site. Now, do yourself a favor and just keep your BIASED opinions to yourself and get a life while you're at it LexSucks.. What a freaken loser!

Well like you im expressing my opinion, yes they sale great. I think they are boring.... my true feelings.....put their drivetrains in a BMW body then you might have somthing. T sum it up i have a love for all cars.

+2 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
I understand where you're coming from damikco, but I don't think all Toyota cars are boring. As a matter of fact I do like their trucks especially their Land Cruiser. I like BMW's too especially the M3, but understand that even BMW is not as bullet proof as a lot of people on autospies make them out to be. I take it that anything without a BMW badge falls short of your expectations, which falls under the BIASED category.

Blandsville!!! But since they will sell tons of these things to soccer moms, that will make this car exciting.

It's not the actual design that makes a car boring or not, its the sales numbers that decide that. LOL!! We have some serious retards here. LOL!!
