Because of the continuing global economic crisis, the Spanish carmaker Seat has decided to postpone its intention of launching its own variant of the mid-engined VW Bluesport roadster. Although they have been eager to have a sports car flagship the confidence for its business case is just not strong enough at this time.

Since Seat does not sell this version in the US and the domestic market is not that big they are finding it difficult to provide justification for the car. The picture may change although it might take between five to ten years down the road. Seat’s present priority is to capture the growing markets, particularly those in Latin America where they already sell cars in Mexico directly from Spain. They are intending to expand to Brazil and Argentina with their latest cars like the saloon-based Ibiza and a special version, patterned on VW’s upcoming US-exclusive saloon that’s going to be manufactured in Tennessee, USA.
