It's been quite remarkable to see the horsepower wars heat up in recent years. But, I think it would be hard to argue against the American efforts that landed.

That's because they're utter savages.

Take, for example, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with 750 ponies, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with 707 horsepower and the all-new Demon with well over 800 horses.

Aside from the race car turned street legal Ford GT, we haven't seen the Blue Oval really get involved with the 700 club. That's about to change with the next-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Following up on a teaser image that was released some months ago, we've now got a helicopter view of the next-gen GT500. What you can see: It will feature a massive front hood vent as well as a helluva bump to fit the supercharged V8 powerplant. Around the back it'll be pretty hard to miss a carbon fiber rear spoiler although it's impossible to tell how high it will be.
