While Honda has pulled the plug on the high-performance NSX supercar, Toyota said that it will not abandon plans to bring the Lexus LF-A to the market by 2011.

The LFA will not lag performance wise with any vehicle in that class. Who wouldn't take a Ferrari over any other car?
The LFA, though, is another beautiful machine that will be a treat to see on the road.

It is Lexus' first attempt at a sports car. They want to ensure every possible scenario is considered for the success of this car. Also, a supercar is not developped in 2 or years time. It takes years of R&D to build a car like this.

screw ferarri and their junk. i would take this car any day over a ferarri. screw herritage too, it's not tangible, the ferrari you drive today is not the one that won the race 20 years ago. toyota is involved in almost every form of motorsport there is, what does ferarri do? F1? LOL. Toyota has been in motorsport for as long as ferarri has been in existance. I'll have my LF-A in black please.

Audi took the R8 from concept to production in three years. It is their first sports car. It is brilliant, as you have seen--won practically every "best sports car" award last year. One could argue that its platform was pre-existing in the Gallardo, but it's obvious that Audi made extensive changes.

Hey slu1979, get a brain. Ferrari has been in motorsports for decades and F1 is the pinnacle. As far as Japanese automakers in motorsports, Nissan has been at it longer than any other with Honda a close second. Nissan/Datsun dominated with the old 1600/2000 roadsters followed by the 510, 240, 260, and a really nice IMSA GTP car. This car will be a direct result of Toyota R&D gleaned from the ALMS series. Should be nice!

I hope all these years of development translate into a great super car which sets standards in everything. Apart from class leading performance, it should also be very luxurious and fuel effecient for a supercar. Good luck Toyota.

When it comes to Japanese sports car I pick the GT-R over LF-A. What makes you guys think people will cross shop the LF-A with a Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini?

GT-R = trusted
LF-A = myth

I'll believe it when I see it and even when I see it I wouldn't pay that price for a Lexus. They don't even have a proper CLK/SL/CL competitor so tell me one reason why I would consider this LF-A? F1 or not, Toyota isn't using enough of this motor sport participating to benefit their own lineup with having more inspirational cars. The closet thing to sporty right now is the IS-F so lets be real here. One of my cars happen to be the LS460 but that doesn't mean I have to be bias towards Toyota. Truth be told, Toyota needs to focus on making a new Supra (GT-R competitor) and then using that as a platform to build a LF-A. My two cents.

yes, it will be the best car ever. everyone else should just cease production. and given lexus track record for phenomenal handling it should performance unlike anything else on the market.

now about that deposit i put down on an LFA in 2002. will i earn interest on that?

First of all you don't know if LF-A will have any problems of their own as well because it's not in production :). Secondly, the price is a big difference for the two. You want to spend that much more for a Lexus brand name when you can hit Mercedes' high end SL65 or SL65 Black Series or Aston/Ferrari territory. Not saying the LF-A won't be good but the last time Toyota made a sports car they came out with the SC430 and we all know it wasn't even good enough as a GT car, let alone sports car.

If Infiniti were actually better, it's resale would be higher (it's not), it's placement near the top of the lux market would be evident (it's not), and it wouldn't constantly get knocked for it's cost-cutting interiors (it does).

Does your Dad only let you drive the G37 if you finish your homework? Or is it your supper?

Infiniti worlds ahead of Lexus???? ROFLMAO remind me again how the rebadges Nissan Cima (inifinity Q45) did against the competition? Lexus LS has been competing with s class and 7 series very well for 2 decades now.

actually Lexus competes very well with the european luxury brands. Infinity doesn't.

And the Lexus 3.5 liter V6 with 306 horses kicked everyones ass when it came out. I have both a Infiniti G35 coupe 6MT and a Lexus IS 350 in my family and everyone agrees that the IS 350 blows the G35 away.

First thing first, I'm glad Toyota has made it a commitment to building the Lexus LF-A. But I also agree with my of the auto fans up here. Toyota need to bring the Toyota Supra to go head to head with the Nissan GT-R.

And at the same time Lexus need to turn the next Generation Lexus GS into a 2 Coupe/4 doors coupe to goe against the MB CLS and BMW 6-Series. And they really need to make the next gen Lexus SC more manly, aggressive, and sporty to go against MB SLK.

And finally, please...please bring the price of the Lexus LF-A down to $170K to $190K. I mean you are playing with the "Big Boy" now from Europe with the like of Gallardo, Aston Martin, and the Ferrari F430 etc...!

I think they got the information on the Lexus LF-A wrong? Because last I remember reading another post autospies where they said the Lexus LF-A will be power by a V10 and producing at least 580 hp.

I guess we just have to wait and see what Lexus LF-A really has under the hood and it stat. And the video at youtube where they did the test run for prototype Lexus LF-A it sounded like a V10 to me.

people talk about this car like it has been in development for so long. 1995 was the first time a concept of this car was shown to the world. if Toyota dooes not think it is quite right, then let them work out the bugs, because asses like the ones that talk crap on this site would be the first ones to speak crap if toyota\lexus don't get it right. so go ahead toyota, take your time. i support you no matter what. screw ferrai!! and schumacher or how ever his stupid name is spelt.

I don't think the premium brands worry about selling a lot in the high end. It's the entry levels where they make their money. The LF-A is going to be limited production so how will it outsell after it's benchmark number has been reached?

The SL is the benchmark for luxury coupe-roadsters. As for the R8 it's an awesome drive but I am biased because I have the 2008 V8 R8. 6 I'm not fond of the bang-butt.
