Toyota factories in North America are gearing up to start making face shields and ventilators.

The Japanese automotive manufacturer announced on Friday that several factories would begin producing face shields and ventilators that are needed to address shortages driven by the coronavirus. The company also said it would be making in-kind contributions and cash donations to nonprofit organizations.

“Toyota’s core value has always been to contribute to society in meaningful ways beyond providing mobility for our customers,” said Ted Ogawa, the incoming CEO of Toyota in North America.
