At a dealer meeting in Las Vegas on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Japanese automaker told dealerships that it will use the Prius name on more hybrid models in its U.

S. lineup. Toyota dealer Earl Stewart said that the Prius name would be attached to “a family of models” using similar hybrid powertrains.

Everybody knows what PRIUS means. How many people know what M or AMG stands for anymore? Sounds better than 'Genesis'.

Highlander Prius, Camry Prius, Corolla Prius, Yaris Prius, most sound not too bad. Nobody else can use the name (unlike Hybrid) so soon Prius will be synonymous with hybrid and high technology. Explain that your car uses SynergyDrive, say your car is Prius and it registers right away.

This idea has been around for a few years now. Won't make more sales but will unify their hyrid lineup better.

makes sense to me.

just as Kleenex the brand name has largely co-opted in popular use, "facial tissues" to the point a lot of generic brands are also called kleenex...

"Prius" may well become the popular term for ALL hybrids.

Hahah, I see some sparks between foez and shempy. How romantic.

That's was an amazing cut and paste by the way foez. You obviously are too dumb to notice that I'm a huge fan of equal opportunity discrimination, I'll call you out no matter what colour you are.
You must be one of them Asian-pride losers if you think I only talk down about the Chinese (I am one btw). I only talk down to the things that embarass me (like stealing ideas, renting BMWs to make up for insecurities, copying or exploiting their people as slave labour). You should watch 'China Blue' sometime and see how great it is to be Chinese over in China...if you're one of the bosss privileged enough to be allowed to exploit people for the benefit of the gov't.

As for the Japanese, they're not perfect, I've stated it many times but you're probably too Asian-pride to notice anything that doesn't jive with your Asian-prideness.
The Koreans are just pathetic, always squished between China and Japan, its no wonder they don't really have a culture of their own and need to associate themselves with anything that makes them feel superior to the Japanese.

Either just leave it as Prius to keep the link with the original hybrid, or affix another name like Prime or something to it (I'd just leave well enough alone).
