I don't know what to make of this, exactly why I brought it to the Spies.



Now while we love the Lexus LFA featured in the image and video -- it's the exact same prototype 00R drove -- we don't exactly love this kind of conduct on public roads.

Apparently Claus Ettensberger of CEC, known for catering to the tasteless and truly horrific modifying scene, was caught speeding in an LFA. Making him the first to be ticketed in the unreleased Lexus, according to GTspirit. So, that must have been one interesting conversation with the officer.

The kicker: Ettensberger was clocked doing 91 in a 35, although his friend proudly boasts "He was going 103."

Claus Ettensberger of CEC not only goes on a test drive but breaks a record in the Lexus LFA. He made history by being the first person to get a speeding ticket in the not yet released 2011 Lexus LFA supercar. He drove 103mph in a 35mph-zone...

- 00R, Why do you hate people modifying their cars so much? Believe it or not, some folks have actually improved every aspect of their stock vehicle. This includes better handling, acceleration, braking, fuel economy, and even looks. Or do you think that isn't possible?

Its already been proven that most mods do more harm than good. Most mod companies cannot put the same R&D into its products as OEMs AND the added weight/half-assedness of some of these aftermarket pieces counteract any benefit that could be netted.

Plus, have you seen CEC's work?

@00R I disagree. Some of the stock parts are crap and can easily be made better by someone else. Plenty of times OEMs are driven by their bean counters which can result in components that are far from the best. Just because you like your cars to remain exactly the way it came from the factory, doesn’t mean that the aftermarket cannot improve upon the factory’s efforts. If a person knows what they are doing in regards to aftermarket vendors, and understands modding? They will end up with a car that is better than the car they drove off the showroom floor with. It isn't rocket science.


As far as what parts can be improved? Where do I start? Replacing stock brakes with Brembos is a win. Brembos offer better braking, lighter weight and better looks. Wheels? Lighter wheels are always available, and stock wheels aren’t as good as some of the aftermarket brands (I.e. forged). Suspension? Aftermarket suspensions are better than stock. When a car manufacturer wants a better Suspension (and brakes) they usually go to the aftermarket. Nissan GTR has Brembo Brakes. Air-filters? The stock paper Air-Filters are a joke. Tires? Unless you’ve purchased a Ferrari, there are better tires available. I could go on forever but I’ll leave with this. My vehicles stock stereo was garbage. I spent about $1,200 and now the stereo is better than it was before. The stereo was the $2,000 “optional” stereo BTW.

Although you have some valid points you essentially shot yourself in the foot by displaying your tuning bias with your audiophile needs.

At the end of the day, as long as the buyer is happy with their product that's all that matters.

However, tuning for the majority is done incorrectly and is not beneficial long term. Of course there are good apples but I am confident when I say that for every good apple there are 10 bad ones.

This loser should have been locked up. Those are residential streets, school is still out and children are probably playing. To boot these idiots joke about it. If he did this in my town, our officers would have locked him up and taken his license away.

The California Highway Patrol routinely tows cars that are doing over 100mph on freeways marked at 65mph. CHP's position is that you're not just speeding but endangering others. Hard to believe that the cop just gave him a ticket and let him go for 91mph in a 35mph zone.
