As you probably know by now, Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the 911 this year. It's a big year for history and sales. For a brand steeped in tradition, it's essentially a year-long holiday.

And if you've been watching racing for a bit, you'd know by now that the 911 is an icon in the GT class.

So when the 911 took the first and second place podiums last week, you would guess that Porsche would be thrilled; however, Allan SImonsen's passing took away any feeling of euphoria. Simonsen's death marked the first time someone has passed in the race since 1997.

In order to look back at the 2013 Le Mans race and pay tribute to the dearly departed, Porsche worked up this clip.
