There's cars and then there's race cars.

Although many production vehicle efforts do their best to bring the two worlds together, most do not actually build a race car. Ferrari, on the other hand, as well as several other supercar auto manufacturers do the unthinkable, though.

The latest flagship, track-going effort for the Ferrari research and development program is the LaFerrari FXX K. This is the follow up to the Enzo FXX.

From what I can tell, this is the closest thing to a Formula 1 car on the road today. The difference is that unlike F1 cars that stopped using V12s long ago, the LaFerrari employs a 6.2-liter V12. This results in a stunning sound as was captured at Ferrari's test track, Fiorano.

It must be a busy week in Maranello. There's been many reports of LaFerrari FXX Ks springing up this week.

I have filmed the new Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K screaming around Fiorano circuit during a private test day reserved for customers only. Video includes tons of accelerations, downshifts and flybys, so make sure you turn up the volume because the sound of its 1050 horsepower 6.2-litre V12 engine is music to the ears!
