If there's one thing to be appreciated, it's a sleeper.

I'll never forget a Volkswagen van that worked its way around the Nurburgring and just destroyed everything in its path. It had 500 horsepower, a Porsche 911 (993) engine and a 911 (996) chassis. 

Well, it seems that some gifted tuners had a vision for the Volkswagen Golf R. The folks at HGP came up with a package that slotted in a VR6, six-cylinder engine and boosted it to over 700 ponies via a bi-turbo setup. According to what we also heard, there was a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox sourced from the Audi RS3. 

So, what does this look like against a supercar? The folks at GTBoard put it up against a Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 — that's the rear-wheel drive variant of the Gallardo — and the following is what happened.
