On June 27th, GM development engineer Jim Mero took the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 around the Nurburgring in 7:26.4 - beating the Nissan GT-R’s 7:29 lap. As we were promised, GM has realeased a video of the Corvette ZR1’s Nurburgring lap (you can watch it after the jump).
The 2009 Corvette ZR1 driven by Mero was all stock according to GMNext. However, some may disagree - but we’ll leave it up to you to debate the sudden urge to flaunt Nurburgring laptimes.
The $103,300 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is powered by a LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine producing 638-hp, giving it the ability to go from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205mph.
