VW is coming out with its latest high-performance VW Scirocco coupe, a vehicle that has been officially exempted from sale in the US.
The first sign that something like this was coming was when VW introduced the GT24 race concept in May 2008 at the Austrian Worthersee Tour tuning show which was followed, in the same year, by the Scirocco Study R concept at the Bologna Motor Show. The latest performance version, dubbed the Scirocco R (not the Scirocco 20T like all the websites were speaking, but the readers of 4wheelsnews knew that, as we reported in this post) will be making its introduction together with a similar Golf-based variant at the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance competition this weekend.
