In a bid to crack down on traffic accidents, motorists can now offer to wait in a car park instead of forking out money for their mistakes.

Under the new scheme in Estonia, motorists breaking the speed limit by 20 km an hour would have to wait 45 minutes in a car park next to the road.

This increases to 60 minutes if they’re caught driving between 21 and 40 km an hour over the limit.
