And just when you thought we were done with the recalls, for this week, Ford and Chrysler make some startling announcements.

Are we in the age of recalls or has the media's response by sandbagging Toyota created some serious fear in the automakers?

It seems that every week -- now -- manufacturers are stopping the sale of a particular product or that someone is starting a recall announcement.

Although we know that cars are as complicated as ever, is this just a knee-jerk reaction by auto builders after all that has gone down in the past six months?

Let us know in the comments below...

2010 Dodge Nitro, Ram 1500 and Jeep Liberty, Wrangler

Chrysler is recalling certain 2010 Dodge Nitro and Ram 1500, and Jeep Liberty and Wrangler due to a problem with the brake tube. The vehicles may have been built with an improperly formed flare on a brake tube assembly. This could cause brake fluid to leak, thereby reducing brake performance and increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the brake tubes free of charge. Contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

2010 Ford Transit Connect

Ford is recalling over 33,000 Transit Connect vans manufactured between December 5, 2008 and May 31, 2010 for failing to meet federal standards for occupant protection in a crash. During testing, the vehicle exceeded the standard requirement for head injury. In the event of a crash, there is a higher risk of injury.

To fix the problem, Ford will replace the headliner retention pushpin located above the B-pillar on both sides of the vehicle free of charge. Contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
