In the past several years, the competition in the automotive world has been heating up. For example, we see that Audi is eating just about all of the available market share and brands like Cadillac getting a boost of energy, thanks to the Escalade and CTS.

Which brings us neatly to the topic of discussion, the new CTS and CTS-V Coupe. Thanks to our friends at the dealer, we now know that the CTS Coupe has officially begun arriving at your local showroom.

Does this car have enough to have you slither away from your Audi, BMW, Infinti, Lexus or Mercedes-Benz?

With a the CTS Coupe's base price of $38,990, it certainly is priced competitively but judging from the vehicles we have seen, it is not a profound departure from the sedan. In fact, it appears to be pretty much spot on with a CTS Sedan except it lacks two doors.

Instead, the only real change of note is the availability of Recaro seats from the CTS-V in any coupe or sedan..."

"Sure, Cadillac wants to be perceived as the equal to a BMW or Mercedes, and clearly this Coupe could do more to flatter the driver around tight roads. But the CTS-V Coupe is being launched later this summer, and its extra 250-odd horsepower and adaptive suspension should fulfill the performance promise of a range-topping luxury coupe. Meanwhile, the standard CTS Coupe is available at a base $38,990, with prices ranging to our loaded tester’s $51,825. Like the Buick Regal we tested recently, the CTS Coupe shows GM’s new approach to luxury: Ride and handling that are refined for commuting duty yet up for some occasional fun, wrapped in a distinctively-styled, modern body..."

"The CTS-V coupe drives almost exactly like a CTS-V sedan...What does that mean? This is what everyone else will tell you: Taut, compliant suspension. Steering that feels a bit heavy and numb on center but is surprisingly tactile and communicative..."
