Initially kept top secret earlier this summer, Toyota shrugged off reports of two new electric models. Well, the day of reckoning has come: Toyota will be unveiling the RAV4 EV at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Information concerning the specs of the vehicle is non-existant at this point but it has been mentioned that the all-electric 'ute will be in showrooms by 2012.

Toyota's press release follows:

TORRANCE, Calif., November 10, 2010 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. (TMS) will debut the Toyota RAV4 EV during the Los Angeles Auto Show media days, on November 17 at 2:50 PM at the Toyota booth in South Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Jim Lentz, president and chief operating officer, TMS, will speak at the news conference.  Greg Bernas, chief engineer, Toyota Technical Center, and Shigeki Terashi, president, Toyota Technical Center, also will be in attendance.
