Some rumors that have been floating this week have been predominantly focusing on Audi's Q3 getting a bit of a bump up in terms of power. Instead of people running their mouths about a Q3 S or something to that effect, they've skipped that bit and went straight to a Q3 RS.

To keep things brief, the internet rumormill has concocted that the Q3 will be given the same powerplant as the RS3 and tuned up to make one hellish little sport-utility vehicle. Considering how reviewers have remarked about the RS3's LOUD sound, this could be a pretty nifty little idea.

Question is, though: Is it true?

The latest news from Audi is that the Ingolstadt automaker is working on a high-performance version of its new Q3 compact SUV. According to inside sources quoted by Auto Motor und Sport magazine in its most recent issue, the brand with the four rings has even decided on the powertrain, which is none other than the 340HP 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five found under the hood of the TT RS and RS3 hot hatch.
