In the wild goose chase for marketshare, a new entry-level category is surging to life. With participation from Fiat, MINI, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and -- soon -- Audi, it looks like automakers are going to be targeting young urbanites who want a vehicle that's stylish, has cachet and can capture their imagination.

We just saw Fiat tease its upcoming 500X, which is a 500 on stilts, essentially. BMW's been spied testing what appears to be a 1-Series MPV that will likely be front-wheel drive, MINI introduced its Countryman within the past 24 months with a Paceman -- a coupe -- on the way, and Mercedes-Benz's all-new A-Class has just arrived overseas.

That leaves us wondering where Audi is in this quest for marketshare. We're pretty sure they won't stand around for too much longer and this speculative rendering from AutoBild gives us just a taste of what could possibly be in the works...
