Monterey Weekend 2013 is here and BMW kicked off the weekend's festivities with the debut of the all-new M4 Concept and the reveal of the Gran Lusso. This was Agent 001's first time seeing the big-body coupe styled by Pininfarina.

That means it's also the first time anyone has taken a good shot of the damn thing.

Though folks are forecasting that this is a signal of an 8-Series return, I actually am going to go a different route on this one. Personally, I think this is BMW showing off what the next-gen 7-Series will look like. Could an 8-Series be in the cards for the next-gen product? It's possible but I don't see why BMW would feel inclined now after exiting the market after the 1997 model year 8-Series and having no problem letting the CL-Class — now the S-Class Coupe — Mercedes-Benz run the show.

Anyhoo, enough of the banter.

Get a look at the Gran Lusso and all of the BMW personnel having a bit of fun in Monterey. It looks like all hands were on deck from Ludwig Willisch to some of our friends that help put these events together.
