If you don't recall, it was only a couple of months ago that we were professing our love for the Porsche 911 Targa.

It's easily the most unique-looking 911 and there's a certain specialness to that particular product. It looks different, it's fun and it doesn't sacrifice the 911 experience for some open-top driving.

While the 993, 996 and 997 featured those large, sliding glass panels -- as does the 991 -- it looks like the Targa moniker is going to go back to it's old-school look with a REAL Targa top.

These scoop images show that the 991 Targa will mark a return to the original roof concept using a folding removable top and a center roll bar in front of a glass backlight.

It remains to be seen if Porsche will offer the new 911 Targa only with four-wheel drive as the current 997 model or if it will be available in rear-wheel drive variants as well.
