Lexus GS450h Hybrid Auctioned Off $4,000 Below MSRP at Hollywood
While we anxiously await the arrival of the Lexus GS450h hybrid, a couple of A-list celebrities, directors and agents had the chance to spend some time with the car and a chance to win the high-performance hybrid luxury sedan. At the Oceana fundraising dinner Hollywood personalities started the bidding below MSRP. The bidding then ended very soon when Keith Addis, Ted Danson’s manager, raised his paddle for $54,000. The lucky man bought the car for $4,000 below the vehicle’s base price. Seems like Lexus isn’t to hot with Hollywood celebrities who already own cars like Rolls Royce, Bentley or even a Ferrari.

Very smart for Lexus to use this oppotunity as a marketing tool to the celebrities. As u all know Hollywood is big on Prius and now the GS450H. sooner or later u gonna be seeing 50% Lexus 50% Rolls, Bentley, Ferraris. LEXUS IS SIMPLY GENIUS !!!!!

Hollywood people prefer the BMW 7 Series for the Winter and a Bentley convertible for the Summer.

End of story.

The only people in Hollywood that I have seen own 7-series,S-class,Maybach,or Rolls Royce are rappers that have gold in their teeth(Or what they call grill)and are always saying the word Bling Bling!!!

Nice spin, fellas. It should have sold for over MSRP, don't you think?

I don't think it should have sold over msrp, why??? Does this car have anything special over the regular edition???

I don't understand the first sentence. "While we anxiously await the arrival of the Lexus GS450h hybrid", that car has been out for months now. Is this just an old article?

The article was just published, but states that there are "waiting lines" for the GS450h. My opinion...if there were truly that many people that wanted the car, it probably would have brought more in the auction.

I don't care about these, so called media propaganda crap and their celebrities..but one thing that does amaze me however, is the fact that GS450h will go from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds! Oh and the MPG factor and reliability of course is also unmatched by anyother. NO COMPETITION EXIST W/A LEXUS GS450h, period.

homer, on the Lexus website they say it's 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds.

Actally, GS450h does 0-60 in 5.2 sec..my bad for misinformation on 4.6 seconds. Eitherway its pretty darn fast..anything on or about 5 seconds is very fast and plenty enough, period.

it does 0-62 in 5.9.
how does 2mph make such a difference?

RupertRupert - 11/19/2006 11:09:15 AM

yeah, 62 mph is the same as 100 kph, thats why britain uses that. america uses 0-60, which seems to make a huge difference.

pwned. And NO, the GS450h WON'T got to 60 in 4.6 seconds. You dirty LIAR. It gets there in 5.5 seconds. The funny thing that the GS450h has the EXACT same 5-60 mph time as of the GS430. BTW, the Hybrid's fuel is determined mostly by the gasoline engine itself. The LS460 gets BETTER highway milage than the GS450h.

Chewy, go wash your face w/a diesel fluid and light your face w/a match.

Most of us already know the diff. between "Performance hybrid" vehicle as in GS460h and why the heck you comparing it w/a LS460, anyhow? Crackhead. go ahead and flame-on!!!!!!!!

For a guy caring about the environment so much, the Jeep you drive is much WORSE for the environment than the modern diesel. So please never again say anything about a dirty diesel[most of what you say about them is unfounded]. You sound like a giant hypocrite. The MB E320 BLUETEC is rated 37 highway. The GS450h is rated 28 highway and the LS460 27. So no, the diesel is way ahead in fuel economy.

not a bad point at all...where can I get a E320 BLUETEC, right now?

btw, 2nd Gen. hybrid is right around the corner. Expect much improvement.

At your nearest MB dealership unless you live in CA, NY, Maine, Vermont and two other states. Blame the EPA that really cares about the environment but thinks that trucks spewing out tons of C02 and other emmisions is perfectly fine for taking its sweet time about the Bluetec technology.

how many of you naysayers have actually BEEN to an auction?

i go to auctions to find BARGAINS. and i do.

the best bargains are when attendance is low, and there are few (sometimes NO) competing bidders.

i'll grant at CHARITY auctions, items can easily sell well over stated or book value. the buyers don't mind paying extra as it goes to a good cause.

i suspect this particular charity auction was not well attended.

i've been to fundraising auctions. and have found bargains even at those.

AS WELL AS seeing items sold at 100% - 1500% retail value.

Even though it has no handling at all and a horribly harsh ride? Lexus is not yet ripe for a sports sedan.

I do not own this car but I have noticed a large number of these showing up on Lexus used car lots with very little mileage. I suspect that the people who did buy are were not impressed and regretful and decided to buy something with a bit more soul. Also there is a glut in the dealer auction pipeline. I would not buy new unless you love acquiring massively depreciating assets.
