Does Your Car Have a Gender?

Does Your Car Have a Gender?
A survey of over 500 people has found that in the eyes of motorists a car changes its sex as it gets older. The survey, conducted by the Bosch Car Service network of independent garages in UK found that although a car starts its life as a female, as the years pass by, the majority of drivers see their motor become a man. It also found that men are more likely to identify with their cars, considering them to be the same sex as themselves. Likewise, the majority of women thought their cars were female.

The survey also highlighted significant regional variations on how motorists view their cars. In London, for example, 35% of motorists think their car’s a bloke, compared to 18% who think it’s a woman. However, down in the valleys, the people of Wales think the opposite to be true, with only 15% of motorists viewing their cars as male and over 42% as female. A sensitive lot, 55% of Welsh people also admitted to feeling sad or shedding a tear when getting rid of their wheels. 46% even gave their car a name!

This site is already destroyed with all the trolling that goes on here. You can't have an intelligent discussion without Nicehomer, Houstoncutie, Will, Lexus_Dude etc. bringing up some crap about how Lexus rules etc.

Autospies blows so much, I'm leaving for good. This will be my last post in this troll-infested forum.

Autospies management has run Lexus banner advertising. Are they trying to show their pro-Lexus stance by allowing blatant trolling throughout all the forums? Not to mention ALL CAPS POSTS THAT WENT OUT IN 2000.

My first car, my 1988 Lincoln Town Car Signiure Series, was a definitely a man. A powerful, sexy, elegant man.

next time you fill your car up with gas think about the gender of your car...

You should love a car like a woman, treat it like a woman, be nice to it and keep it happy.. but in return it should be reliable and dependable, and not grumble or give you grief...in that respect ot should be more like a man.

having said that, my old six series is called becky :)

i can't decide whether my rangie is a man or a woman. its like a horse or a boat, so it should be a woman, but its very brick-like, so its a man.
its called brick anyway.
my dad's seven series is definitely a man though, but the sat-nav is called charlotte. she's very english.
we're lucky, our nieghbour's sat-nav is very german and is called helga.

I can't help saying this, but I will:

So your Lexuses are "both girls" where the people who own other luxury cars say: "seven series is definitely a man", "was a definitely a man" (Town Car).

So the Lexuses are girls, aka not grown up yet, unlike other more well established car brands, like Lincoln and BMW, who are both "Man" and not "boy"!!!!!

(This post also a perfect synopsis of Lexus)

( I'm assuming that the Tahoe "boy" is a last-gen model because that gen is pretty crude compared to today's model ) :)

No, not all Lexus' are girls. The GX and LX are boys for example. But every other Lexus is a girl. And the BMW 7-Series is a girl. Pretty much most cars are girls. Lamborghinis are the exception though.

OMG YOU DON'T GET IT.

I'M COMPARING YOU SAYING "GIRL" AND NOT "WOMAN" FOR LEXUS. YOU'RE SAYING GIRL/BOY (for lexus) WHILE EVERYBODY ELSE IS SAYING MAN/WOMAN.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

I'm the idiot? I'm not the one who likes the Ford Mustang. Ford is probably the worst automaker out there today. When I say girl/boy, I'm referring to the gender. Fine, the Lexus cars are female, while the GX and LX are male. Is that better, idiot?

Yes, but we're getting (relief- we've finally found the perfect car) a SWB A8 4.2 quattro for her, most likely custom-ordering it this month so it comes some time in late January or February.

Normally, the A8 would be a well-tailored man, but it's my wife's car, so what gender should it be?

No, I've said this many times. What an original insult.

My wife drives a Savannah Metallic 2004 Lexus RX330.

I drive a Sprint Blue 2005 Audi S4 Cabriolet, and an Ocean Blue 2006 Audi A3 2.0T DSG for the winter.

My wife is trading in her Savannah Metallic 2004 Lexus RX330 for (most likely) a Platinum Beige 2007 Audi A8 4.2 quattro. She drove it to day, and really loved it. Said it drove "much smoother and faster than her car, and was beautiful inside and out".

Well you may as well drive the RX. It's obviously the nicest car you have. Good luck with your new Audi SUV. I'll give it a year before it breaks down.

All,

It doesn't matter the make, model, edition, accessory package, color, whether it's a 6" drop or a 25" lift with mud swamper tires, twin turbo or supercharged...

Point being that all planes, trains, and autos are female. I don't care what you call them but holding onto the past, it's a she and she would kindly ask that you continue to treat her in that way.

And for those of us who are clean car freaks...time, and more time and a soft touch are the way to go. (no, nothing meant by that mod's).
