Audi Takes a back SEAT to BMW

Well done Priaulx :)

Kind of a weird and obviously week diss on Audi. Especially since Audi and SEAT share almost zero technology.

The irrelevance is accentuated further with the announced restucturing at Audi. Audi will now oversee Lamborghini and Bently, while SEAT will go to VW.

As far as Audi and motorsport is concerned, I think its half-dozen wins at Le Mans speak clearly enough.

yes.. audis 6 wins at lemans .. matter... NOT!!!. didnt they start winning after porsche, BMW and Merc left the series, citing that it was "irrelevant"?. Well, guess what.. it still is.. and npobody cares about them or their POS TDI engines. At least nobody who can afford a real car.

AmazingBimmer People who fail call things they fail at irrelevant. Audi pioneers technologies for there productions cars through the Le Mans series so I would call that very relevant. Now it's a POS TDI bit it won for "BEST RACE ENGINE" from a group of experts who know a hell of a lot more than any of us when it comes to race technology. Let it go move one and wallow in your own self pitty elsewhere. These forums are for intellegent post not for idiotic ramblings. Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Oh yeah and one more thing Mr. AmazingBimmer it may hurt your feelings and you may not know this but Audi out sells BMW 2 to 1 in the motherland BMW only outsells Audi here in the states where image is everything (even if it's not real).

BMW pulled out after 2000 season when Audi started to spank them at the American Le Mans Series....
Porsche and MB pulled out because their cars were flying up in the air.

Seat is very closely related to VW in terms of chassis and engine sharing. I would say that it's laughable that BMW let a Seat get that close to them in any racing series.

Same thing happened to Audi in the AMLS with the RS6, but guess what? It kept winning anyway. By the time they (Audi) was done with the chassis, it had less power than the showroom stock unit and weighed more than any other car on the track but still won the championship.

Sea also ran more cars than BMW

BMW have nothing to prove in motorsport.

Audi winning the Le-mans several times in a row speaks for itself. And the A6 winning car of the year 2005, and all the Audi models winning best interior, I think that speaks for itself too. Props to BMW on RWD though. I love my 530i for that reason.

To say that Audi is for people that cannot afford BMW is completely ignorant.
I can name several Audi models that are more expensive than the BMW models.

I've seen the X3 leases go for as low as 299 a month with 4000 due at lease signing.
BMW leases are a steal.

Yes, I know plenty of secretaries (in my office, in fact) who make about 1/6 of my salary and drive BMW 3 Series's, an X3, an A4... and a Camry. She isn't trying to hide anything!

RWD is more fun to drive, although I certainly don't mind FWD cars.

Quattro's pretty fun in the twisties too.

Odd as it is, I'll probably go for a Bimmer for my next WINTER car, and buy a Porsche RWD or something for the other three seasons.

I can't imagine why more people don't see the true value in an Audi. The A6 feels much larger inside than the current Mercedes C and the diminuitive BMW 3 series. Audi also has more comfortable seats and an AWD system that really works reliably. BMW cars have no side protection from door dings -- is BMW trying to save the cost of a simple rubber strip along the side?

Hmmm...SIX of the top ten finishes in the results posted above belong to SEAT. My math is not that good guys so help me out here....that leaves how many positions out of ten?

As for the annoying people, just remember that insecurity is often manifested as boorish behaviour. Some "stereotypical" boors are short people, obese people, ugly people and BMW owners. I am not saying that ALL of the above are that way, just the loud ones :)

The reason this race is as close as it was is because BMW kept getting success ballasts which weighs their cars down. If it wasn't for that, BMW would have launched farther ahead. Audi technology suffers in this format because of the inherant weight of AWD which is less prouncounced in higher output engine models.
