We give the USA a sneek peek to the Land Rover Freelander 2 before it hits in L.A.

The new Freelander 2 is a big step forward compared to the last version. Here are some real-life shots from our Beijing gallery.

Awesome and it doesn't have goofy looks like that Acura.

I love the grill work!

That is exactly what I thought of when I first saw that picture in C&D.

No it's a mercury mariner, no a mazda tribute.

It sure is pretty though. I think it is the best looking of all of the tiny utes.

The interior is very old school.I agree suits on Big Land Rovers, but on this sporty baby Land Rover it doesn't match with the exterior.

BTW Looks like a baby RR Sport.Nice.

I don't think it shares anything with the Ford Escape, but I am going to do some looking and come back to make sure.

I sure would buy one until my check comes in for the Range Rover Sport.

it shares nada with the ford escape.
same platform as the new ford mondeo/galaxy/s-max/unreleased volvo XC60

this is obviously now the best SUV in the world, bar all other land rovers.

Oh, c'mon now, saying the LR2/FL 2 is the best SUV in the world is SO biased. I can see it getting okay reviews, at best.

The Range Rover is probably the best SUV in the world, but this isn't even close. This wouldn't even be in my top 20.

hence the "bar all other land rovers"
i know the RR is the best in the world, and i thought i'd have a go at being a Land Rover fanboy, since nobody else is.

Looks like a Ford...
But interior isn't bad.
Looks like a smaller Range Rover or a LR3.

To me, it looks like, umh, the old freelander. What an upgrade. I'm sure it is better, but why did they build a new car that looks the same? The other land rovers are masterpieces, this makes me feel sorry not to be rich enough to buy the lr3.

I rather buy a cr-v, it doesn't have the look either, but it has de reliability...

I actually think the new CR-V is quite stylish in person. It carries a low-budget style all its own. RAV4 is nice, but not as fresh.

Why would anyone pay $35,000 for a car that will cost $2000 a year in repairs and be in the shop more than any other manufacturer's products? As much as we complain about MB, the reliability of the Rover is absolutely the worst bar none. Of course, rich people who shell out $75,000 for the top of the line don't really care, but for the hard working stiff who's saving up to pay $35,000? It will be a nightmare.

Yes it's a pretty little gem... but this car has the very worst repair record and makes BMW/MB look like a bunch of Honda Accords... no, seriously.

I think the RR Sport is the worst of the worst. I've heard numerous accounts of the rear suspensions spontaneously falling through on the highway, leaving drivers stranded with a car that's ten inches lower in the back.

In fact, I was driving behind a silver RR Sport tonight, and heard a suspicious metallic noise coming from the back of the car that I wouldn't hear normally. This was with the windows closed. It could've been...

^And yet, the RR Sport is so damn good-looking... it's a love/hate relationship.
