I'm actually not even joking- the A4 has been the safest car in this classs for the past two years, and that's using America's stricter safety ratings.

Might want to check the Latest IIHS results. Toyota and Lexus hold 9 of 16 worst ranking.

All I can say, God bless Toyota/Lexus and the other Japanese cars, without them we would've been broke now and gone crazy from driving other keeps on breaking cars if they were American or German, and now safety comes into play (not new news actually), so thanks to them they're keeping us safe as well beside reliable cars that reduce our visits to michanic shops.

Congratulations to Lexus. I bet this result is causing consternation in the offices of Audi and Mercedes, and of course BMW too.

Wait, so suddenly, now that the A4 is the safest in this class in AMERICA, and the IS is the safest in EUROPE, which isn't as strict, the American results don't matter, when all the Lexus fans talk about are AMERICAN sales and AMERICAN reliability?

RupertRupert - 11/22/2006 4:29:08 PM

isn't as strict? i thought ours were tougher?

and anyway, the a4 has 5*s too, an 4 child stars, but only 1 pedestrian star.

Rupert that's so that the Audi drivers can mow down drivers of other vehicles like BMW, Lexus and Mercedes when as soon as they get out of their non-Audi vehicles!

Can anyone tell me what the main differences are between our crash tests and Euro crash tests?

I'm so confused why some cars, that are safe in Europe, aren't safe here and vice versa.

Anyway, kudos to the IS.

So it is only better on the pedestrian category, the A4 was designed before the pedestrian category was implemented and that is why it doesn't do as well there.

But the A4 and the A6 were picked best in class for safety for 2007 with the study that came out several days ago. The A4 beat the IS in that one.
