Nice video of the Maybach S. It screams luxury and the finer things in life. It shows how MB has brought this brand up and made it into a ultra-luxury vehicle with lots of prestige and exclusivity. It looks absolutely superb rolling the streets of Paris. It was like this car was made for Paris. Classic Europe with luxury is what it's all about.

Actually a Phantom or a Bentley wouldn't be bad either. However for leg room and ultimate comfort I believe the Maybach is better. But seriously speaking, when you get to the level where Maybach's, Bentley's, and RR's are at it is simply personal choice and styling's totally subjective.

And truly, when I sat in one at a Benz dealer in NY, I wasn't very impressed. Not nice enough to justify being almost 4X the price of an S-Class.

If you put it that way a Phantom or Bentley is nothing great as well. Since looks/feel are all subjective, IMO it's in the same class as the Phantom and Bentley. I do agree with you on the pricing though. It is kind of high for a car that looks very much like a stretched S-class. I also agree with you so much that I will say that MB themselves could make a build like the Maybach for their S and just jack the price up much.

So there's no doubt the price effects how you expect the car to feel. If it was 250K it would probably feel better for you. It's ultra luxury but it's also subjective. Luxury for one is not luxury for another. I was surprised the price myself when I first heard about it. I mean it looks like an MB every possible way. But I guess money does the talking and people with that kind of money will make the choice whether it's worth that 4X..

For the money that the 62 S commands, I would just get a Continental GTC and an S65 AMG. THAT'S a power duo!

I also agree with that. That is a very impressive duo no doubt about it. If i had the money to get the GTC and the S65 i'm sure the Maybach would be the icing on the cake for the best well rounded fleet of rides. However it's missing an SUV. The new X5? =D

i heard the mayback is essentialy dead. Rolls has taken a significant lead. Is that true?.

Neither of them are selling at all, with Bentley taking all the limelight.
