We've already seen this, without camouflage or spy dubbing, before.

It looks like a mini S-Class. I don't think it'll be a 3 Series beater, but it's going to go head-to-head with the Lexus IS.

Right, here in Irvine, Ca a lot of real estate agents will buy the C-Class before ever thinking of the IS.

I don't like how the grille is much bigger than the headlights. But nontheless, the whole car itself looks good, better than 3-series IMO

Uhh, no, because the new A4 will be released only a short time later, and will most definitely crush the IS, C-Class, G35 and CTS. The only question mark is the 3 Series. Who knows if the A4 will be the biggest threat yet?

They have a real winner here! Just kidding, it still looks like a car from the 90s, maybe early 2000.

I don't know, the IS V6 is not very competitive and the Audi A4, C-Class, 3, and the IS will all be competing, expcept I think it will be more like C/A4 and IS/3.

The IS needs soem dynamiics upgrades though. Perhaps a facelift?

No, it's more like IS vs. C and A4 vs. 3. The IS isn't enough of a drivers' car to be considered a serious threat to the 3 Series, and is more luxury-oriented, like the C-Class. The A4, on the other hand, leans more towards a sporty driving experience. It may not be as fast as the 3, but it's the 3's only real competitor. The G35 is kind of in the middle. Arguably, it's a real 3 Series competitor.

Well in my humble opinion the G35 is winning right now in the small lux sport segment as far as ext design goes. Lets see what Audi is gonna churn out...

I do not think that this looks like a Chrysler product. People keep saying that garbage and its never true. Mercedes creates its own designs, and I don't want to see anyone post "how about the R class and the Chrysler Pacifica", they're different vehicles.

As for the competition, BMW will reign supreme, I love BMW's but I am not your average BMW fan. Mercedes should REALLY focus on trying to infiltrate Lexus IS, Infiniti G, and Acura TL/TSX sales. If Mercedes can competently stand above these cars, then they can really try to shoot at BMW/Audi.

Also, Mercedes needs to address the fact that their 2.5L engine gets worse mileage than the 3.5L. (At least that is what is advertised, I haven't checked it out for myself)

Bottom Line.A4 is left behind.
Many magazines have started comparing it with Saab and Jaguar now. It's too dated.
Even Audi fans admit this, and regularly talk about the upcoming one.

BTW this C class looks to me like a baby CL more than baby S class.Nice though. But not enough to affect the leaders 3 series and IS

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN, PLEASE.

The C-Class has never been about sport, but luxury. Cars like the BMW 3-Series, Infiniti G35 and Audi A4 are about sport. The C-Class competes more with the Lexus IS. Both are biased towards luxury have good sporting abilities.

And it's to early to tell, but this new C-Class might just be SUPERIOR to the so-called "leaders" in this segment, Jugnu.

This is true, but I think that the C-Class is more aimed at sport than the IS. Afterall, there is a C-Class AMG model.

It offends me, why should BMW be the only one to introduce cutting edge, revolutionary designs, if MBenz wants to play with the big boys, its gotta introduce cooler looking toys.

Maybe not. With new M3 in the wings, the rumored IS500 and an RS4 replacement in a few years (and an RS5 coupe sooner yet), this car will have some stiff competition. The C AMG has never been best in class. When there was the C43 AMG with its 300hp V8, and the M3 had a 260hp straight six and the S4 had the bi-turbo 250hp V6, both the S4 and the M3 were faster (and of course had better handling).

not sure what to think about the front end...i just hope the real front end looks better.

also, i think the one to look out for in the near future is the next gen Acura TSX. it will be based off of the Honda Sports4 concept. it will have SH-AWD and a prety powerful powerplant. also, i'm pretty confident the next TL will have the awd too.

I second the fact that C63 is going to own, Merc knows that they need a winner in the C-class, and hell it's been a girly car since the new body came out in 2001 it's time to kick some butt with a more masculine car. P.S. to S4carbrio dude i'd take the c43 anyday over the old S4 and the old M3. W202 body style rocks, old S4 body is like a piece of poo, you couldn't get me to drive that jetta, and the old M3 is just old looking, no street cred. W202 c-class body was clean and masculine especially 99 and 2000 year production car with sport package, these cars were legit, and have you ever heard a c43, damn thats a beautiful sound.

This is clearly an horrific photoshop. I doubt this is anything like the real thing but if MB were to release this in the UK it will lose out to the only other competitors Audi and BMW. Lexus just don't cut it here, driven by photcopier sales reps or carpet salesman.

Incidentally, there's a lot of talk on these pages about other US brands which simply don't compare to the german brands for quality, styling, safety and performance.
