Nissan To Sell 125-Mile-Range Electric Car

By 2010 Nissan Motors is planning to sell a compact electric car that will have a range of 125 miles on one charge. The company is also planning on selling a new line of hybrids, diesel and bioethanol to catch up with its competitors such as Honda and Toyota. Nissan will use its partnership with Renault to expand this new line of environmental friendly vehicles and will provide Renault with fuel cell, hybrid and other technologies. Currently, Nissan has introduced the 2007 Nissan Altima hybrid which gets 42 mpg and a 700 mile range. The 2007 Nissan Altima hybrid is expected to launch in the summer of 2007.

If Nissan could Mass build a 125-mile range car then someone will build a 250-mile per charge car from a small barn in Ohio with chickens and goats. Properly named Chickgoat Corp.

It uses Toyota's hybrid drive so the Altima's fuel ratings are as overinflated as Toyota and Lexus's.

It all depends on the location of your driving.
For instance..in LA where a gridlock or bottlenecking of the car will move you from point A to B at on or about 5 mph for estimated time of upto 1 to 2 hours .. then hybrid is for you. and, yes, Hybrid will save you alot of money and pollution imo. I drove my Mazda years ago from San Diego to LA in approximately 3 hours straight shot on the highway but once in LA..It took me almost 2 hours to drive another 5-6 miles going northwest from downtown doing walking speed entire way. If, I had a hybrid at the time..I probably used hardly any gas for the entire travel during those 5-6 miles.
