DCX, VW to Team Up on Diesel

DaimlerChrysler AG, Volkswagen AG and its Audi unit will announce tonight in Los Angeles that the automakers have agreed to jointly use a clean diesel technology developed by Mercedes-Benz as they seek to comply with stricter U.S. emissions standards, company officials said Monday. The automakers will make the commitment to use and market Bluetec, which Mercedes-Benz debuted in three of its U.S. models last month. Another model will use the technology next year.

With their Bluetec pact, the automakers jointly brand a "green" technology as they attempt to answer the success of other companies' hybrid vehicles, especially Toyota's.

Yeah, I was wondering too why some articles aren't submitted.

Funny how some TROLLING articles are accepted (Audi A8 looks better than S550 etc.) and some potentially informative ones are discarded.

Well, it was 001 who submitted the S8 vs. S550 article, because he wanted to get us flaming again. Of COURSE it was posted.

001, do you have the new S-Class yet? If you don't, I'd get rid of my S500 right now (you told us when you got it) before it drops like a rock. You might be able to sell it for over $30K.

Why do people buy diesels when you can get a hybrid? It's so much quicker to 60 to and it's made by a company that is sooooooooo environmentally conscious. Not like those Germans and their outdated diesels...

How do you know. No Amercian magazine has ever tested the MB E420 as far as I know. And once again you will be able to get a VW Rabbit/Jetta in the 20-25k range. Of course the high demand will keep a limited amount of these in stock so you will have to hurry to get them. But yes VW will price the new TDIs on the Jetta and Rabbit very nicely at under 25,000 for sure. Or to put it even simpler, only 1,-2,000 dollars or so compared to equally optioned out gasser.

The E420 CDI was quicker than the GS450h I believe, by 0.4 seconds I think. No big difference. Besides, who buys these cars and cares about 0-60?
