Audi Reports Record November Sales

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Audi of America, Inc. today reported sales of 9,209 for the month of November, making it the best November in the company's history. Sales are up 16.4% over the same period in 2005.
For the calendar year to date, Audi sales total 78,219, up 5.4% over 2005.
Audi is on pace to set a sales record this year.
The Audi A4 and Audi Q7 models set the sales pace for the brand. A4 sales totaled 5,124, an increase of 13.0% year-over-year, and consumers purchased 2,019 Audi Q7 SUVs. Since its launch in June, sales of the Audi Q7 have reached 7,682 units.
"Consumers have three great reasons to put the Audi A4 on their shopping lists," said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America.
"The A4 was recently named a 'Top Safety Pick' by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the A4 delivers class-leading residuals, and when equipped with the 2.0 liter TFSI engine, the A4 has best-in-class fuel economy."
Audi Certified Pre-Owned sales also closed the month strong. Audi dealers delivered 1,879 CPO units, an increase of 2.0% over last year.

Someone with taste.

I could buy two Acura TLs for the price I paid for my car. And it was totally worth it.

A cousin of mine thought my wife should look at the Acura RL. I respect his help, but I Just laughed. Anybody could do so much better.

Stop hating. I told you all the trend I noticed in Dallas, and a number of Toyota boys wanted to deny it. Reality: Audi is experiencing record growth.

Sales are good but it has been bloody. MB, Lexus, BMW, and Audi are all doing give away leases. We still have a long way to go to catch up.

Very bitter-sweet for Audi, pleasure in record sales and but surely some dismay that it was achieved only by heavily subsidizing leases for the A4 and the new Q7.

There will be a lot of concern about the collapse in A6 sales, and the surprising decline in A3 as well. No surprise that A8 and TT sales also declined.

If you exclude Audi's sales of the new Q7 then total sales for November 2006 were actually well below November 2005.

Well, that's like not including any SUVs of other manufacturers. If they didn't have SUVs either, their sales would be much, much lower. Especially BMW and Lexus. The X5, RX and LX are among their top-sellers (RX is).

They just need new cars. A new A4 specifically. That's how you get people into the brand for the long haul. Build a good entry car. Not the A3, which is too small. Without a redesigned A4, Audi is not bringing people into the brand, they're just maintaining.

Yes, and it's not like they're never going to redesign the A4. It takes time to engineer, design, equip, detail and price an A4 to perfection. It may be out by the end of next year. If not, the new A5 coupé definitely will be.

^And, the 2.0T is quite easily the most fun you can have in a little engine. Not as fast as the larger six-cylinder models from other brands, but I would consider the A4 2.0T to be the 330i of the entry-level segment.
