If someone would just give me all 3 SUV's I promise to test them over the year and write a report on each one.

If you knew ANYTHING about the auto industry, then you'd know the LX is a large outdated truck that dosen't deserve to be included with these modern vehicles.

Listen to mstangpny. The LX is old and outdated, if luxurious. When the new one comes out, they'll compare it. But the LX's time to be in comparison tests is over- that was 1998-2001.

Why do the Toyota/Lexus fanboys always bring up a Lexus or Toyota model in a thread which has nothing to do with their cars?

Hey Jake, the LX is an old grandpa truck with an underpowered V8 that needs a redesign. I'm falling asleep just looking at it.

I really like that new TDV8 engine that Land Rover has, I would pick the RR. Now if Audi came out with their Diesel engine they have on the A8, it would be another story.

I love them both. Range Rover is beautiful, Q7 is cutting-edge. But the RR is a ton more money, and no one considering it would look at the Q7.

The V8 TDI is coming for the Q7 next year in Europe. Then some time after that, the beat V12 TDI with 500 hp is coming.

Jake, unlike all the other vehicles in the test, regardless of how they look, the LX actually IS a truck. It's also two generations old compared to the GL, Q7, and (the car I'm surprised they didn't include) the new X5.

The new X5 is too small, and there isn't a new X5 diesel on the market yet, if I'm right.

ok mustang kid, this is obviously a full size suv comparision, and now they say the q7 is a full size suv, and yeah the LX is a little old but it has been going out with style, its not near far away from the other cars, tell me what the difference is besides gas mileage

The Lexus LX/Toyota Land Cruiser are old, but that doesn't make them uncompetitive.

The Range Rover doesn't have a third row, and is part of Land Rover, perhaps the least reliable vehicles in the US since Yugo.

The Q7 looks like a hearse, and in the US is sold with small engines thus cheapening its image.

The GL does not even have a reversing camera or touch-screen navigation

In addition to the LX/LC, I think the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon are very much improved and are credible, relatively fuel efficient alternatives to the GL and Q7.

No one said the LX or LC weren't competitive, feature-wise. They just lack power and finesse in the driving experience- others have moved well beyond them from an engineering and technology standpoint.

And yet, the Range Rover still sells at an alarming rate, mostly to people who can't afford it. It's beautiful.

Looks are subjective. I think the Q7 is very cool-looking. Small engines? What? The normal Q7 3.6 has more power than an LX470 with 1.1 more liters. It's also available with a 350hp V8 if you need it.

The two things you mentioned the GL not having don't matter much. Nobody except true, navi-know-it-all car enthusiasts will really care about the navigation system (although it is horrible), and you can get a backup camera aftermarket. It is odd, though, that I'm pretty sure the new S-Class has a backup camera, but their largest SUV doesn't. This could be corrected in the future.

The Mercedes and Audi were designed for women the Range Rover for men. Range Rover dominates, and always will, this segment. Toyota or Lexus-- Give me a break.

If you want space, you will likely pick the GL or the Q7, its as simple as that. If you want an iconic look, you'll pick the RR if the space behind the rear seats works for you. It's new for 07 interior is great. I just hope quality improves (no where to go but up?). If the test was done in the US the results might have been been different as country lanes that pass as roads are not really part of the North American driving experience. So the comment about the GL's size may not have been made, but 5M is a long truck. Also once petrol V8's are thrown into the mix, things could change again. Personally I am looking forward to all three brands launching oil burner SUV models in North America.

The mercedes GL must be a good car,all the English magazines admit that fact in their articles,even though they would always choose either a range rover or discovery over it.But that is not the reason the GL will not be a hit in the UK.The GL comes to the UK with an unbelievably flawed middle seating arrangement.It is the left middle seat that should have been designed to fold for passengers to get in or out instead of the right middle seat.that oversight will surely put off potential buyers of the GL in its right hand drive form.The English are not responsible for that.

if you wanna talk seating the lincoln navigator blows all of the suv's out of the water, that may be the only thing it shines in though
