Nissan Reports a Decrease in Sales, Infiniti Posts a Marginal Gain

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported sales of 76,015 units in November, a decrease of 1.6 percent from the prior year. Nissan Division sales decreased by 1.8 percent over last year. Infiniti Division posted a sales increase by 0.2 percent versus the prior year.

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS · November sales for Nissan-brand vehicles of 65,633 units decreased by 1.8 percent on a daily sales rate basis compared with last year’s 66,849 units sold. · The all-new Versa, Altima, and Sentra contributed to the car segment increase, up 13.2 percent year-over-year. · The Altima had its best November ever with sales of 18,203 units, up 20.1 percent over last year, reflecting the strong start for the all-new model. · The new Versa subcompact continued to build momentum with sales of 3,324 units.

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS · Sales for Infiniti were up 0.2 percent, with 10,382 units sold, as compared with last November’s 10,363 units. · The all-new G35 sedan was off to a good start with sales of 4,229 units, up 29.8 percent over last year. This marks its best November ever and second best month ever. · The M also set a November record with sales of 2,015 units.

NNA INFORMATION · Combined November sales for Nissan and Infiniti totaled 76,015 units, a 1.6 percent decrease when compared with last year’s sales of 77,212 units. · The all-new 2007 Sentra was released mid-October. November will mark the first full month of sales of the all-new Altima and Infiniti G35 sport sedan.

Wow.
Nissan sold a thousand fewer vehicles compared to last year, while Infiniti sold a whopping 19 more.

So basically no significant change for either.

Nissan's cars are the best they've ever been, but mediocre in the current competitive landscape, something that seems to explain why their numbers overall are unchanged or slightly lower.

Interesting that Infiniti counted this as a 0.2% gain, while I remember on one of Audi's models, there was a car that increased a lot more than by 19, and counted it as a 0.0% increase.

Audi sold more A4s than Infinity did the brand new G35. Didn't know that before.

That's pretty weird. Infiniti has been over-publicizing the G35, with ads in every magazine I've gotten over the past few months, and recently, huge foldable ads.

All I've seen on the A4 is a recent leasing commercial with different rates.

I believe I've seen about four new G35s, and they were all silver, so it could've only been one or two cars.

I recently saw an Audi ad that featured all of its cars, it was completely different than any other Audi ad before. Very nice. Audi just started a much bigger marketing campaign, I am sure they will have very nice results very soon. The vehicles are already excellent.
